I agree, the show was great last night. The judges make the show for me. I thought the talent was much better on the first show though. I can't wait for the duels next week. dance

Here are the ratings for last night's show:
Quote :
The Voice was seen by 12.4 million viewers and had a 5.6 preliminary rating among adults 18-49. That’s up 10 percent from last week’s premiere, which broke NBC records.

I wonder if the ratings will stay up now that the blind auditions are over. The blind auditions made the show the unique. Now that it's over it will be interesting to see if viewers will still watch.

I think the ratings will remain high, because I am interested in the next round where the judges will have to choose between their picks that should be very interesting...Where it might loose my attention is when they turn it over to the audience.....

Emily Valentine who called herself Emily Wynn Hughes during Idol season 8. She only made it as far as Hollywood.

Yeah, I am really, really liking this show too.
I gave up on Idol seasons ago, and thought I would give this a shot. I was not expecting much. I was surprised how much I loved the show.
I am terrible with names, but the bald gal has some voice on her, and there is one young pretty girl with long hair that has wonderful voice. Those 2 stuck with me. Looking forward to next round.

Toward the end I was kind of fading out. I do like the show though.
Javier sticks out to me. A few of the brunette girls were good too.
I'm thinking Adam might have the strongest team.

EW

The un-amateur contestants of 'The Voice': Where have you seen them before?

Does the moppet to your left look familiar? If so, you might be one of the world’s rarest creatures — a fan of The Voice who’s also seen Kevin Smith’s 2003 flop Jersey Girl. Raquel Castro, the girl who starred in that film as the plucky daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s characters, resurfaced on the second episode of NBC’s singing sensation last night and ended up getting chosen to join Christina Aguilera’s team. As it turns out, Raquel is far from the only Voice contestant who had significant experience in show business before snagging a spot on the series.

We’ve already discussed Frenchie Davis and Javier Colon, who are probably The Voice‘s best-known contestants when judged solely by their pre-show careers. But did you know that a VH1-anointed diva, two successful songwriters, and three more former child stars — among other semi-famous singers — also made the Top 32? Here’s a list detailing other Voice hopefuls’ brushes with fame:

In 2003, Tarralyn Ramsey won the first and only season of VH1′s Born to Diva, a reality competition in which would-be Mariahs tried to impress the likes of Gloria Estefan, Patti LaBelle, and Kelly Rowland with both their pipes and their larger-than-life attitudes. Tarralyn subsequently scored a record deal with Verity/Warner Bros. and toured with Mary J. Blige and Ray Charles. Check out the video for her single “Up Against All Odds” — which begins with a clip from Born to Diva — below:

Cherie Oakley‘s more than just a seasoned backup singer who’s supported Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson on tour; she’s also a co-writer of “Turn On the Radio,” which became a hit when it was recorded by Reba McEntire. (Reba, incidentally, is going to serve as a guest mentor on The Voice next week.) American Idol contestant Lauren Alaina also performed the song during this season’s Top 24 week.

Casey Desmond‘s songs have been featured in episodes of MTV’s My Super Sweet 16, Road Rules, and The Real World, as well as the trailer for The Mysteries of Pittsburgh.

Vicci Martinez was put through to Hollywood during the first season of American Idol, but she elected not to accept the offer: “Just having to sing cover songs all the time, and [being told] what to wear — I just couldn’t do it,” she told a local news affiliate in Tacoma, Washington after the fact. (Presumably, she’s all right with singing cover songs now.) Vicci also made it to the semifinals on CBS’s Star Search in 2003.

Dia Frampton formed a band with her sister Meg (called, appropriately enough, Meg & Dia) in 2004. They performed at Warped Tour in 2006 and 2007, opened for Angels & Airwaves in 2008, and were signed with Warner Bros. for three years before being dropped in 2010.

Serabee (a.k.a. Sarah Buras) was once signed with Universal Republic records. She also penned “Crazy Chick,” which Charlotte Church recorded; it reached No. 2 on the UK’s charts.

Emily Valentine made a big impression when she auditioned for American Idol‘s eighth season. Back then, she was going by Emily Wynne-Hughes. She, too, made it to Hollywood, but ended up getting cut after she forgot the lyrics to a Fleetwood Mac number.

My personal favorite: When she was 12 years old, Kelsey Rey was a member of the Disney girl group Funn Club. (On the cover of their album, which was released in 2003, she’s standing second from the right.) Their cover of “Whoop There It Is!” — “Party over here/Party over there/Hands in the air/Shake your derriere!” — is truly fantastic.

Tje Austin has opened for Trey Songz, Anthony David, and Dwele.

Tori & Taylor Thompson, too, have been making music since they were too short to ride roller coasters. The sisters were two of the five winners of American Juniors, the fairly terrible AI spinoff that aired in 2003. That sure was a big year for eventual Voice contestants! Fun fact: Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale also got her start by winning American Juniors.

Whose pre-Voice career surprised you the most, PopWatchers? Do you think it’s fair that music industry newbies are competing against folks like these on NBC’s show? And how frickin’ adorable is Raquel’s performance as a wee Mrs. Lovett in this clip from Jersey Girl?

EW

'The Voice': Javier Colon is clearly the early favorite

After last night’s premiere of the The Voice, there is some dissension on whether NBC’s new singing competition is “a garish bore,” as EW’s Ken Tucker says in his review, or surprisingly entertaining — at least in the blind audition round — as I would argue. What’s not up for debate, however: 33-year-old father-of-two Javier Colon, who sang a stripped version of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” is the one to beat so far. Watch the clip below. It shows the best of the blind audition concept: A talented performer, all four coaches (Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton) pushing their “I Want You” buttons, and the contestant getting to choose which star will be his mentor after they each try to woo him to his or her team.

UPDATE: No wonder everyone wanted him: Per Javier’s Facebook page, his résumé includes two solo albums on Capitol before he broke out of the “urban R&B” mold and started opening for the likes of Joss Stone and the Indigo Girls.

'The Voice' contestant Frenchie Davis on Christina Aguilera (not her first choice!), the battle rounds, and being rediscovered

Frenchie Davis is ready to leave Idol controversy in the past and be recognized for one thing: The Voice. In last week’s premiere, she belted her way back into the public spotlight when she powered through “I Kissed a Girl” (more on that unconventional song choice below), which was good enough to make Christina Aguilera do a 180. Davis took some time to sound off to EW about naysayers, her coach, the blind auditions, the upcoming battle rounds, and her love for the gays.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did you feel when Christina turned around?
FRENCHIE DAVIS: I think you saw it in my reaction. It took everything in me to not stop singing and go like, “OH MY GOD, SHE TURNED AROUND!” [Laughs] I was so excited. I’ve always admired her. As far as pop singers go, she’s one of the few pop singers that’s a real singer, so I have a great deal of respect for her. It meant a lot to have her turn around for me.

Another really good episode tonight. This show really has turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Frenchie was the best choice.

I thought Tyler was good, but I wasn't shocked he picked Patrick. He is cute. Tyler was robbed. IMO

Casey was amazing. She does not look 18 or maybe it was the way they dressed her that made her appear older.

I loved Vicci. She is so cute and I love the sound of her voice.

They should have shown more contestants battling it out in the ring tonight and cut some of the practice footage with the mentors we saw leading up to the main show on the cutting room floor. That part was boring to me.

The only choice I didn't agree with was Blake's. I think Blake knew who he was going to pick before they sang. He wanted a country guy.

The last 2 could have gone either way but I had a feeling Cee Lo would pick the more unique one.

Thanks. I finally watched the show last night and loved it. Apparently she lives in Naples which is about 30 minutes from me. It is a relatively small city and the residents definitely back the local talent. I am just glad I have another reality show to keep me entertained. My real life reality just isn't cutting it!!!!

The Voice down 19% but still #1 for the night

Quote :
After shifting to 10 p.m. for the start of the “battle rounds,” the singing competition dropped 19 percent from its record-setting first two weeks. The Voice delivered 10.3 million viewers and a 4.6 preliminary rating among adults 18-49.
That’s still enough to beat usual Tuesday night leader Glee, which had 9.1 million viewers and a 3.6 rating — winning 8 p.m. and roughly steady with last week.
Overall, NBC came in first place, with The Voice growing 77 percent from its The Biggest Loser (8.8 million, 2.6) lead-in.
