Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Engaged

I'm happy for these two, I really like Nick from watching the Newlyweds. Cute kids Very Happy

Who says getting back with an ex is a bad thing: Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, who briefly split last summer, are now engaged!

"We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," the couple told UsMagazine in a statement.

Nick and Vanessa began dating in 2006 and both have birthdays coming up on November 9.

"They're so happy, doing great," a source told the magazine. "Thrilled about it."

While Nick began his last marriage by doing a reality show, Minnillo has already nixed the idea.

This will be the first marriage for Vanessa. Nick was married to Jessica Simpson, who he separated with after three years.

Last November, Nick told an Atlanta radio show: “I definitely want to be married again. I want family and kids and all that stuff. In the right timing, there will be all that good stuff."

Meh, I think he can do better than her. She's definitely beautiful but doesn't seem like a very nice person to me.

And I think I've always held onto hope that he would get back with Jessica. lol I really loved them together on the Newlyweds! (How great was that show?!)

I loved the Newlyweds. Poor Jessica Simpson has put on a tremendous amount a weight. It was kind of shocking to see her judging the Project Runway Finale.

I've always like him. I like her a lot better now that she is older. In the past, I couldn't stand her. Now that she has matured, she doesn't bother me at all.

Nick was too mature or she was immature or a combination with her dad... I never thought they had a chance. It was sad watching them.

Jess' weight fluctuates depending on her personal life... just like the rest of us. I guess it's the fact that she was always so buff when she was younger. Her face appeared very full... but it may have been the tight chignon. She usually has her hair down when I see photos of her.

I always liked Nick, more than I liked Jessica, but I do agree with you about her weight. I love the fact that she doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks. She is who she is and doesn't let her weight define her. She doesn't make excuses for it, nor should she. I think she's a great example in that respect to young girls out there.

I was chatting and glancing at this thread and when I saw the Simpsons, I pictured Homer and family lol!

I guess I'm against the grain on this one, but the only thing I liked about Nick was Jessica.

Also, I read an interview (can't remember where) a couple of months ago where Jessica says that she has to work out very hard and eat very little to maintain her Newlyweds figure. She said that she would rather live healthily but still enjoy life, and she's okay with the way she looks. She was meant to be a bit more curvy than average.

When I think of Vanessa, all I remember are those knife pics with Lindsay Lohan that were leaked...

I read they called them to take those pictures. Is that not the true story? Did they sue the paparazzi agency because that is a violation of privacy.

The ring is by Neil Lane and has a central ruby flanked by two diamonds.
