About the Show

ABC - Site http://abc.go.com/shows/detroit-1-8-7/about-the-show

What does it take to be a detective on America's streets? Get an in-depth look at some of Detroit's finest and watch the crisis and revelation, heartbreak and heroism of the cops assigned to an inner city homicide unit.

There's the damaged but driven Detective Louis Fitch, a wily homicide vet who is the most respected—and most misunderstood—man in the division; Detective Damon Washington, Fitch's new partner, who finds the first day on the job is a trial by fire, complicated by the imminent birth of his first child; Detective Ariana Sanchez, sexy, edgy and beautiful, who has emerged from a rough background to become a rising star in the department; Narcotics undercover cop John Stone, a streetwise smooth talker, clever and quick with a smile made for the movies, who is teamed with Sanchez—a combustible pairing rife with conflict and sexual tension; Sergeant Jesse Longford, a 30-year veteran struggling with his impending retirement from the force and the city he loves, who, together with his partner, Detective Vikram Mahajan—a fully Americanized son of Indian immigrants—form an amusing mismatch of experience and enthusiasm, intellect and instinct, old school and new world, but whose combined skills have never encountered a case that couldn't be cleared; and all are headed by Lieutenant Maureen Mason, a strong-willed single mom struggling to balance home and work.

The men and women of Detroit Homicide are as smart and tough as they come. They have to be, working the neighborhoods of the once and future Motor City.

Enjoyed the show.. Really interesting characters on the show. I never liked the main detective who was previsouly on the Sopranos, but I really like him on this show. cheers

Cool

Some of it was filmed in Atlanta, I hope in the future more is filmed in Detroit. Detroiters say "pop" not "soda." The ending was very emotional with the detective that was shot.

I found this on the Detroit Free Press website. I really like Dan's sister.

Kelly Gheesling, 29, of Dearborn, auto company network engineer: "It seems as though much of the beauty has been left out .... It would have been refreshing to see the darkness of the city tempered with the bright lights of the many jewels our city has to offer."

I didn't see it and I'm not sure if I dvr'd it. On demand hopefully! I don't want the young detective to be dead. Hope he's okay and gets to see his baby.

I watched it. It was alright. I won't spoil anything but something good happens in the 2nd episode.

I liked that new show Lone Star that was on Monday nights but it was canceled after only 2 episodes.

Detroit 1-8-7 Scoop: Three Big Reveals Ahead

So, Detroit 1-8-7 didn’t receive a season two pickup this morning like a handful of other ABC shows (Go Cougar Town!)–that certainly doesn’t mean it’s dead.

In fact, Detroit is alive and well, and I’ve got three shocking scooplets on Fitch, Longford and the rest of the squad just for you.
Fitch: Poor, Fitch (Michael Imperioli). Things are never easy for 1-8-7‘s leading man, but a show source tells me a huge reveal is right around the corner that may change everything. Dying to know what happened with the detective in New York? (Aren’t we all!) Well, get ready because the answer is juicy and almost here. Any guesses as to what the big secret is? Oh, and that’s not even the biggest problem plaguing Fitch…

Fitch/Sanchez/Stone: Enter the dreaded love triangle! The entire squad is about to get rocked when the Fitch/Sanchez/Stone, um, threesome of sorts, takes an ugly turn as the result of another action: the sudden appearance of Fitch’s ex-wife and son. Dun-dun-dun!

Longford: Detroit‘s Sergeant (James McDaniel) is thisclose to retiring…or is he? In the coming weeks, Longford will wrestle with whether or not he should leave his post to fulfill the promise he made to his late wife to live the “Tuscan dream.” My prediction: He’ll ultimately stay on board.

Overall, I’m hearing things really intensify for all characters in the coming weeks. So if you’re worried about the future of the series, be sure to keep tuning in because Detroit 1-8-7 only gets better.

Catch Detroit 1-8-7 Tuesdays at 10 pm on ABC.

Is anyone still watching this wonderful show with me?? I have read that it is more than likely the show will not be picked up for season 2. What a shame! This is one of the best shows on television!! Last week's show was very, very good. The actors on this show are superb!

Detroit 1-8-7

Season Finale: Sunday at 10pm ET on ABC

Quote:
Considering its tepid ratings, it's a good bet that this week's season finale of ABC's throwback cop show will also be the series finale. But the men and women of the Detroit PD still have one last case to solve as Fitch's New York nemesis Albert Stram comes out of the woodwork. With his son and fellow cops in danger, Fitch sets out to end things with Stram once and for all.

And what a finale it was!! I really liked this show and I'm very disappointed that it looks like the series is finished. The story lines were great and kept you watching and at the edge of your seat (with your hands over your eyes sometimes) and the acting was just superior, IMO. Plus, it was good to see Detroit on the map again, although not everything was painted in a pretty way. Just good to see the city is still there!
