Top Chef Masters

Premieres 6/10 @ 10/9c Bravo

op Chef Masters will pit 24 world-renowned chefs against each other and
see how well they fare in the tried and true format of Top Chef.
In each episode, money will be at stake for the chefs, with the winners
of eliminations being awarded cash donations for their charities. The
first six episodes will consist of four chefs competing against each
other to name one winner. The six winners of each episode will then
meet up for the final four weeks when one person will get eliminated
each episode until the finale where one winner is crowned Top Chef
Master. The winning chef will receive $100,000 for the charity of their
choice.
Each episode of Top Chef Masters holds two challenges for the chefs.
The first is a twist on the classic Top Chef Quickfire Challenge which
tests their basic abilities — for example in season 2 of Top Chef
where the chef'testants had to create an amuse bouche out of items from
a vending machine. Each Quickfire Challenge will be judged by a blind
taste test and a five-star system, similar to fine dining reviews.

The
second challenge is a more involved elimination challenge designed to
test the versatility and invention of the chefs as they take on unique
culinary trials such as working with unusual and exotic foods or
catering for demanding clients. The food will be tasted and evaluated
by the judges and a wide range of tasters for whom the challenge is
aimed, whether it is patrons at a five-star restaurant or a room full
of hungry kids — the food has to appeal to the diner as well as the
critics if the chef is to survive.

I loved this show last night. It was really entertaining. The chefs own cometary was really funny.

Tim Love, Christopher Lee, Hubert Keller & Michael Schlow competed last night.

They didn't make it easy on them they got a taste of what the top chefs went through when they judged them.

Hubert Keller won last night, he is really good.

MASTERS GET SCHOOLED
Hubert Keller (Fleur de Lys),
Christopher Lee (Aureole), Michael Schlow (Radius Restaurant), and Tim
Love (The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro) are the first four chefs to
draw knives and kick off a whole new level of culinary competition.
Each episode will re-create a classic "Top Chef" quickfire challenge –
the first being to create the most creative and delicious dessert they
can (as seen on season four). At the end, one chef moves on to the
Champions Round.

Ice,
It was a really good show. I had a feeling Hubert Keller would win. Did you think it was kind of gross with the pasta in the shower part? Reminded me of when Kramer on "Seinfeld" was making a salad in the shower. Laughing

I didn't like this. I'll watch, but it didn't hold my interest like the original Top Chef. I don't like the gal host either.

I didn't like the new host either Nancyb, but I liked the new judges. I did like the show, but the shower cooking wouldn't be something I would want to eat. Shocked Herbert seemed like he was a really good cook.

Thanks Candace for reminding me the show was on last night. :flower:

HE LOST SUPPER
Operating on an extremely tight budget, the
chef’s must create the perfect amuse bouche using only what they can
find in a vending machine (season two, "Top Chef"). Master chefs Wylie
Dufresne (wd-50), Suzanne Tracht (Jar), Graham Elliot Bowles (Graham
Elliot Restaurant) and Elizabeth Falkner (Orson) find themselves “lost”
as they are challenged to make a meal inspired by the hit TV show,
using ingredients such as fish, wild boar, fresh fruits, and other
island specialties. "Lost" co-creators, executive producers and writers
Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof guest star, and one chef moves on to
the Champions Round.

I have a feeling Tom and Padma might be contestants in up coming episodes or be in the final challenge.

I'm really looking forward to tonight ep, Lost is my favorite show so this should be fun.

I agree about the host not being that great, Padma is way better imo, but she's just sort of there so she doesn't detract too much from the show for me.

I'd love to see Tom and Padma as contestants. Tom for sure. Not sure Padma has enough experience? She knows food and has cookbooks, but is she more of a cook than a chef? I'd also love to see Anthony Bourdain put through this.

Fun stuff.

Hey iCe...Thanks for keeping us updated. I was away for one of the weeks and then totally forgot about the next. I did see the show last night, and was happy that Anita Lo won. I really like John Besh, but he did struggle in the Quick Fire. He was so gracious and cute about the whole thing.

Yet again, I was worried about cleanliness and safety...Did anyone have a problem with a chef putting sterno on and next to food? I did, needless to say.

I really like all of the winners so far, should make for an interesting final round. Is it 5 chefs that compete in the final round?
