Melissa made the cover of US, this week. I saw it at the grocery store but didn't pick it up.

And, from their website:

Get a First Look at Melissa Rycroft's New Boyfriend!

The Bachelor's Melissa Rycroft finally shows off her new man!

The 25-year-old -- who was proposed to, and then unceremoniously dumped for runner-up Molly Malaney six weeks later by Jason Mesnick on national TV -- showed up at a dance studio in West Hollywood with her insurance agent boyfriend, Ty.

He was wearing a Dallas Cowboys T-shirt -- she is a former cheerleader for the team!

Rycroft says in Us Weekly's newest issue that she has been quietly dating her new beau.

"We've been really good friends, but the timing was never right," she tells Us. "With all this going on, he's my support system. It's funny how things happen."

Rycroft recently joined Dancing With the Stars and wowed judges with a high-scoring routine. She has been attending daily dance rehearsals to keep the momentum going for this Monday's show.

Pick up the newest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, to find out how how Ty and Melissa met, see what he looks like -- and learn what Melissa really thinks of Mesnick.

The Bachelor Disaster
Posted by Freegrace at 3/10/2009 9:42 PM CDT
My wife and I wasted valuable time every Monday night watching the Bachelor. A fantastic quote by spanteacher on The Emmaus Road summarized how I felt about the experience, I watch and trash the Bachelor too. It's like a wreck on I-10--I know I shouldn't look, but I do. Proverbs 31:30 wrote a blog entitled "Love" on "The Bachelor" from the perspective of a single Catholic female. Im writing on my perspective from the perspective of a married Protestant male. However, our conclusions are very similar. This show is a sad example of how the world defines love.

For those of you who are not aware, the star of the reality television show, single dad Jason Mesnick, surprised everyone in the season finale when he originally chose Melissa Rycroft only to dump her for runner up Molly Malaney after it didnt work out. All of this was revealed on national television. Mesnick claims that the requirement to reveal this on television was part of his contract because he could not speak to her in person. Rycrofts disappointed response was to remind Jason of his choice and to ask him why he chose not to fight for the relationship. Mesnick replied that they were not right for eachother.

As an American culture, we put way too much emphasis on romance and not enough on covenant. As usual, we want the pleasures of sex and marriage, without the sacrifice of commitment and covenant obligation. We speak of commitment but do not focus on the fact that marriage is ultimately designed to be a covenant between man, woman and God. That covenant is generally initiated by a vow to love the other person for better or for worse, richer or poorer in sickness and in health until death do us part so help us God. Most people enter that covenant saying the words but secretly hoping for better and not quite as good, perhaps a small cold and health, in richness and upper middle class income, until we fall out of love for eachother. This covenant is intended to represent the mystery of the eternal love that Christ has for the church.

For Jason, as communication in the relationship got difficult, he decided it might be best to explore his options. My dad once told me that when we fall in love it is normally with a figment of our own imagination: we imagine this person is everything that we ever dreamed of having without noticing too many faults. In marriage, we learn what the person is really like. The test of marriage is to learn to let go of the figment of our own imagination and fall in love with the person we married. I do not blame Mesnick for choosing not to enter into a marriage that was destined for failure. I question why he would ask one woman to enter that covenant when by his own admission he loved someone else at the same time.

I once heard from the late Don Raunikar that our current dating system better prepares people for divorce than marriage because our culture has decided that when things get difficult in a relationship it is time to get out. Perhaps that is part of the reason why the divorce rate in the United States is so high. For most Americans, marriage is just another form of dating but you just change your name and then go to court to undo the mistake. People look forward to the white dress, cake and event without really considering the seriousness of the covenant. Every aspect of the traditional marriage ceremony was designed to symbolize the seriousness of this covenant. The husband to be enters the wedding first as evidence of his role as the covenant initiator. The woman comes in a white dress indicating her purity (no, she did not spend the night in the fantasy suite before the wedding). The man too is also expected to demonstrate such purity prior to marriage. The wedding guests are not there so they can bring cool gifts. They are there to serve as witnesses of the covenant. If anyone has a question about what was done that day, they have witnesses to hold them accountable to their promises to eachother and most notably God. The sign of the marriage covenant is the ring. The seal of the wedding covenant is the sexual intercourse. Because the seal of the covenant is sexual intercourse, it should only belong to the two people who are making the covenant.

That is what makes the Bachelor such a troubling proposition. How does dating 25 different women in a short period time possibly prepare someone for a lifelong commitment? Perhaps that is why so many bachelor relationships never lasted after the show ended. Im thankful that I pursued my wife alone and will love her forever, forsaking all others. My covenant with her and God is to love her no matter what until I die. Should she turn out to be the worst person ever (thankfully she is not) or physically incapable of meeting my needs or should she make me so poor I have to give up everything I have, I am still permanently married to her until my death or hers. The passionate pursuit of the one we love shouldn't end in marriage; it should begin in marriage. May God guide all of us to love in the same way for His glory.

I usually get in trouble for saying things like this... but I would just like to say to this gentleman "NO SHIT SHERLOCK"... I feel better now.

I find it pretty fun that he watched the show religiously (no pun intended) every Monday night. I also find it laughable that this situation is being discussed in a the Belief section of a News Paper. Any thoughts?

I am sure the writer is a nice gentleman, I bet he would enjoy obsessing over this show at THE FORT! demon banana

I guess people need the romance and stuff at first... then the covenant part comes in - LOL. I know if I hadn't taken my commitment seriously, I would have thrown my husband's clothes on the lawn yesterday.*

lol! I know what you mean sometimes, Nancy. My husband and I have been very happily married for over 40 years, but I remember with humor the night before our wedding when, having some slight argument, I took my engagement ring off and threw it in the yard. When my contrite fiance came back to apologize (because I felt I was never wrong liar ), I was in the front yard with a flashlight looking for that ring. We WERE married the next day but there were a couple of times the first year (and a couple of times since) when I had been seriously ready to send him back to his mother. If he had had 24 other girls to choose from, I think that night I might have been toast.

Thought provoking blog from Naomi:

My Tattoo...
Hi Everyone!

Many of you have emailed me asking about my tattoo...So here is the story behind it...
It actually reads horizontally, but I wanted it vertical... It means "Strength" in Khmer (better known as Cambodian)...and I got it done in San Diego.

I never thought I'd be someone who would get a tattoo..until spending a month overseas working with orphans in Thailand and Cambodia almost 3 summers ago.

I spent time in 4 orphanages throughout Thailand and one in the outskirts of Poi Pet, Cambodia where I really just got to play with the kids..I wouldn't really call it 'work' ...I'd call it 'FUN'

It was such a life-altering experience to see what it is like for
people living in third world poverty (mainly what I saw in Cambodia) ...I'll never
forget crossing the border from Thailand to Cambodia and seeing what I
did...naked children sleeping in the middle of the road..children
taking care of infants..begging for money at the border..trash and feces everywhere..people wearing masks so they don't breathe in the pollution...at night, every shack in the slums lit up with red lights and young girls outside waiting for men...It was like walking into a scene I had only ever seen in the movies..

I first decided I wanted to go when taking a women studies course in college called "Sex Work" ...We looked at a range of feminist theories on all forms of sex work from Pornography to Prostitution to Sex Trafficking...We read books and watched documentaries that really opened my eyes..

Seeing some of the documentaries on trafficking of children in Southeast Asia tore me up inside..I just sat there watching and cried...That's when I first decided I wanted to go..

Months later I felt compelled to go to church one Sunday night... This was before David and I broke up and I used to watch his soccer games every Sunday night..

Anyhow, it had been about 5 or 6 months since I had been to church...and this one night, I just felt very compelled to go, so I ditched out on his game..

As it would turn out..Rose Martinez (one of 25 missionaries the church sponsored) was in town for the first time in years just on this ONE night Smile ...She got up and started talking about the orphanages she started in Thailand and Cambodia and some of the stories of the children in them..

Some children who lost their parents to HIV/AIDS and have contracted it themselves...children who had been physically and sexually abused by family and neighbors..other children who were victims of sex trafficking...Children she had rescued from the streets and brothels..etc.

I sat there with my eyes glued to her just bawling my eyes out...Later on that evening I waited til she was done talking to everyone and could barely get two words out before busting into tears again...I can't remember a time in my life I felt so moved to do something as I did then..So I told her..I think I'm supposed to go:)

I got her contact information and started saving for my plane ticket..

Less than a month later David and I were realizing we needed to break up, I was also dealing with issues with my mother and partying like crazy to drown it all out..I had stopped going to church...I remember the night I decided I was in NO position to go overseas and spend time with these kids when my life was a mess..I planned on emailing Rose the next day to let her know I was not going to go...

So I went to sleep this same night- and had a dream that I was in Cambodia surrounded by all of these children greeting me and hugging me...I looked up and Rose was smiling at me..In my dream I was so overwhelmed with joy and peace that I cried...

And I woke up from this dream crying...I knew right then that God was trying to show me something...in my heart I wanted to go more than ever before...

The coolest thing about this whole experience was down the road when pulling up to the orphanage in Cambodia and having a flash back of my dream as it turned out EXACTLY that way Smile

The children in these orphanages had so much life in them...It was astonishing to me to see the way in spite of the horrible things they had experienced in their short lives, they possessed such a joy and strength inside..I've never been more inspired in all my life!

SOoooo...I got the tattoo as a daily reminder, that when people ask me what it means, I stop in my tracks and think about those children and the STRENGTH they have...It stops me from complaining about my petty, daily 'issues' or 'problems' ...They have changed me in a way that I can never fully repay them for...

Thanks for reading!
Lots of Love!

During the show Naomi wasn't one of my favorites but now she seems like an impressive young woman. What an incredible experience she went through.

I got this from Jokers, not sure where Jason posted it.

Quote :
Addressing Media Rumors
So...I just saw a picture and an article come out in Star Magazine. The photo is taken of both Hillary (my ex) & I...the article tries to claim that I am cheating on Molly with my ex - or something to that effect.

Here is the deal...My parents are divorced and have a great relationship
and its important to Ty's mom and I that we do to. The most important thing is
Ty's best interest, so Hilary and I get together as often as possible to
talk in person about what is going on with Ty while each of us is not around. We
know plenty of divorced couples that don't get along and we refuse to let that
happen. So, there is nothing between Hilary and I except we are great
friends. If the photographer that was following us really saw something, he/she would have shown it.

I used to pick up magazines and somewhat believe what was in them. I guess
if that was the case then Jennifer Anniston would have been pregnant 800 times
by now. The truth is that these magazines are horrible and really do not
care about anything outside of making money and the truth has nothing to do with
that. It's been amazing to see how the media has manufactured my story.

I am heading to visit Moll for her birthday this weekend, I am so
excited to see her. Molly and I are in love and extremely happy together.

Sincerely,

Jason

I do have to give he and his ex credit for staying friends. I wish my ex had done that. We were fine, talked about the girls all time, met for lunch once a month to talk about any concerns the kids were facing, then boom, along comes new girlfriend and now he thinks he has to pretend I never existed. What's so funny, girlfriend and I get along great. Course we aren't followed around by cameramen! lol!

My take on this is that everything is taking a toll on him. He wanted to be seen as this madly-in-love, great dad, perfect guy. boohoo The reality has smacked him in the face fuss and fight and he is having trouble dealing with the pressure of being seen as a not-very-nice, wimpy, somewhat creepy, guy who doesn't care much about who he hurts as long as it isn't himself. Or more to the point, seeing himself as nothing special. It is still the "poor, poor, pitiful me" syndrome. You just know that seeing Melissa getting so much support and attention for something that requires talent has to be killing him.

As far as the madly-in-love deal, he is coming off as clingy, needy, and protesting his love too much. He should just back off, not read the magazines, not post every time he breathes the same air as Molly, and let everyone just move on and forget about them.

I agree. I think we are all familiar with the excitement of the new and unexplored.
Rich or poor, gorgeous or plain, nobody gets through life unscathed. I think it helps when you've both made a formal commitment to walking that bumpy path together. Maybe it helps pull us back when we get a little too close to the edge of the cliff. (and I think a secure, committed relationship has room for plenty of little squabbles!)

No clue Mood. Just loved the dress, so I made it my avi. Smile

Janelle's#1Fan, my daughter, who is now a freshman in college, wore that dress to prom her junior year in high school!! And yes, it is a beautiful dress. And as a proud mom, I must say it looked stunning on her!!

ETA: I like the pic of Jason and Molly...they seem happy. Everyone appears to be moving on...

This is strange. Wonder what the camera man is doing there. It's not New Zealand is it?

Okay, I'm confused. This picture looks like it was taken on the final day when he was crying over the balcony and he sent Molly home. I wonder at which point they were hugging. Before or after he dumped her? Notice his suit and her dress? They were the last outfits on that show.

I don't remember these outfits from The Bachelor but I do forget things. LOL.

No matter when/where they were taken, they are 'set-ups'. I like to see candid shots of a couple to try and guess their true feelings. Based on all the lights, cameras, and crew I just call this a photo shoot. They do both look really good in these pics and appear to be a loving couple. I think they are holding on to each other now because they have to 'prove' it was all for true love. Melissa being on DWTS will keep their story out there a little while longer. I will be curious to see if Molly moves to Seattle and where they are in six months. The damage has been done now so I really do wish them the best....I just don't care to see them any more. LOL! I wish Jason would take his Moll and disappear into the Seattle rain and fog.

Who got the better deal: Melissa gets respect, fame, admiration and most likely fortune. Molly gets Jason. Razz

Has this pic been posted before? It was on Naomi's boyfriend David's MySpace. Sorry if it has - I didn't remember seeing it before and thought it was cute!
