I enjoyed tonight's show. I am not a fan of lamb or undercooked meat or mayo or unusual incredients. I could never be a Top Chef judge. lol!

I agree, ndd. Lamb is something I am not fond of at all, and undercooked meat--yeah, no thank you. I would be trepidatious as a judge, as well.
That being said, I was sad to see Lauren and Patrick leave. I liked both of them very much, and would have loved to have seen their friendship develop along with the dynamics of being with the others. Gene from Hawaii intrigues me. I can't wait to see what he can do. I liked the "Rainbow Team" of Jamie and Richard...They seem fun and nice.

I would hate to be the first to go on any of these reality shows. What was nice about this show is I pretty much liked everyone and I didn't feel strongly about anybody going home. Should be a good season. :flower:

I enjoyed everyone last night, the two guys from Europe are a bit arrogant.

Stefan won the quickfire and the elimination challenge so he will probably be a one of the heavy hitters this season.

I love this show. So cool it's in NYC. About a month ago, they were advertising on the radio to come to a tasting somewhere in Manhattan. I wonder if it ended up being one of the upcomming challenges? I got a kick out of the different foods for all the different neighborhoods challenge.

I am surprised Ariana did not go home with the super sweet lemon desert. She seems so depressed.

Next show - FOO FIGHTERS!! woo hoo 2 happy dance

I love David Grohl he is so funny, but I wouldn't expect him to be on the show. Should be interesting.

Cool

Ariana should have gone home, she wines so much and Padma spitting her desert out...

Radhika won the quick fire challenge
Fabio won the elimination challenge
Jill went home this week with her Ostrich egg Quiche.

(biggest damn egg I've ever seen!)

I am glad the quiche went home. She was too deadpan for me, lacked any passion for her cooking and just bothered me.... (touchy aren't I?)

I think she went home because she didn't defend herself at all....how did she get on the show? In the DR type interview she said she wishes she had been given the chance to cook what she was good at... I found that annoying since this challenge really had no restrictions other than "Lunch". Plus, how do you screw up quiche? Somehow she managed.

At least the terrible too sweet dessert lady tried and was willing to admit it wasn't good. Also, I think the judges know she asked everyone in the kitchen to taste that dessert and give feedback and got basically "bullshitted" by the others.

Top Chef is really a hard show to judge since we can't taste the food.

I am liking the Euro guys, they crack me up. Is it just me or are they almost cartoonishly Euro chefs? (think Muppets! Swedish Chef...Boirk!)

I never noticed Jill she was so blah yawn I think they should have kept Patrick last week he had a better personality.

The Euro guys are funny.

I didn't have much hope for Ariane because she seemed so depressed at the beginning of Top Chef, but I think she is gaining confidence and appears to be doing much better. I am happy to see her progress.

I enjoyed the breakfast dishes in the quick fire challenge. I thought the Today Show segment was really interesting and I thought Meredith was really nice. Kathie lee spitting her food out in a napkin wasn't too cool. IMO

Enjoying the show....

Not one contestant stands out to me. They're all sober and boring. I miss Andrew and Dale from the last season.

I'm with you, icecoffee. I was super surprised the other girl didn't go.

I might be disappointed with who goes, sometimes, but I usually understand the judge's rationale. This time I didn't/don't. I don't think the other girl has won anything, has she? And, Ariane had several marks in the "win column." I think the other girl and guy sort of hung her out to dry, in order to protect each other, and it disappointed me that the judges (apparently) bought into it. Or something happened, because this time they goofed (in my opinion).

I have to admit, I've been disappointed with the talent this season. I don't think any of them can hold a candle to previous winners.

I wasn't impressed with the other girl either and I was surprised Ariane went home. She does have a number of wins especially with cooking meat so this was an off night. I thought she had come a long way with her confidence from the first show.

I agree about the chefs, they don't seem to be as talented or as original as other seasons.

Fabio was fabulous. Did anyone else think that his jacket looked a tad too small, though? Could just be me...haha. The Hosea/Leah thing---Oh my, how uncomfortable...So, aaaawkward!

Radhika was horrible in the front. As a shy person myself, I can understand that uneasiness...But to win on Top Chef--I mean Step It Up! Regarding Carla--Big 'ol bad night for her. They both have come through before with some really good food, so I think I would have had a problem of deciding between the two.

Oh, I just remembered Leah's fish.... Good thing she was on the winning team.

I don't have an all out favorite yet. Waiting......
