I have read the books and I have watched any of this series that I can get through Netflix.
They are trying to follow the books as closely as possible, but what the series does not do as good as the books is get Sookies "voice". In the books you can feel more of her sense of humor at this crazy world she is becoming a part of.

I love the movies and I love the books. But I kinda try not to compare them. Mostly I just say they are both wonderful, if you like either, do yourself a favor and watch/read the other.

True Blood Has Found Its Debbie Pelt

EW's Michael Ausiello has gotten on his blow horn and is screaming that Alan Ball has cast the role of Debbie Pelt in season 3 of True Blood. After auditioning a ton of ladies, the role has gone to Brit Morgan who was in The Middleman and a movie called Beer for My Horses, which is going to magically find its way onto my Netflix queue.

In the books, Debbie Pelt is described as a psycho bitch who becomes Sookeh's arch rival. Alan said Debbie will be featured more in the [color:dccb=#ff00ff !important][color:dccb=#ff00ff !important]TV [color:dccb=#ff00ff !important]show than she was in the books. I didn't read the books, because why bother when you can watch Alexander Skarsgard's nipples act everything out for you.

True Blood season 3 Sneak Peek

Season 3 In Production: Eric

HBO will broadcast a new behind-the-scenes video of "True Blood" every Sunday for the next six weeks, and the first of these clips is certainly a doozy for fans of Eric Northman, the ageless Swedish vampire played by Alexander Skarsgard.

Beware of possible spoilers after the jump!

In the clip, Eric is flat on his back and covered in blood. But don't panic just yet — not only do vampires have a reputation for liking blood, Eric himself seems to have plenty of strength as he wraps a fist around his tattooed assailant's neck and shouts: "Who sent you?" The two are not alone, as Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is nearby holding a revolver.

So what exactly is going on here? It's a solid bet that Sookie and Eric have been ambushed by a werewolf, given the fact that these creatures are supposedly at the center of "True Blood" season three, but until that June premiere date, it's just too early to say for sure.

Along with...

The actor next to Sookie is Joe Manganiello (Plays Alcide Herveaux). He used to or still does I'm not sure, have a part on One Tree Hill as Owen Morello. In Season 3 of True Blood Sookie and Alcide team up together to help one another in their quests. There is supposed to be some sexual tension between the two. happy dance 2

I have been re-watching season 1. I can't believe how much I missed the first time around. So if Sookie hooks up with Eric, what will happen to poor Bill? That Jason Stackhouse sure was a sex machine the first few episodes of season one. Wasn't he. To bad he is dumb as a rock. I also didn't catch on to how in love Tara was with him the first time around. I didn't like Tara's character the first time around, but the second time around I understand her better and have more compassion for her.

Back when Season 1 first aired I had HBO and watched the episodes at least three times each. And yes, you can miss a ton of info just watching the episode once. I haven't read the books but I did read somewhere that in the books Bill turns out to be "bad" and may have nefarious plans for Sookie. I don't know how much of this is true or if they will use this in the show. I've also read that Sookie does end up with Eric for awhile. But this is not a for sure thing.

Jason was a little effing machine. demon banana I think he is so cute but he is not my type at all. Yeah, Tara had it hard for little Jason. I love how Tara and Lafayette interact. Remember when Tara went to Lafayette's after her mom hit her in the head with a bottle? I laughed so hard. Here is the conversation:

Tara asks if it'll need stitches, and Lafayette takes a look: "You're gonna put some peroxide on that... Then take two Vicodin, with a big glass of red wine. Then smoke some badass ganja, baby. By the time you wake up... mm! All healed."

Could you imagine actually taking all that in one sitting?! My heart would stop. LOL.

Are you going to re-watch season 2? I've been trying to find them online but I come up with sites that make you give out your cell phone number, so I'm out of luck. I love that you and others enjoy this show! Very Happy

I like Bill and Sookie so far. But, I like Sookie and Eric together better. Is it Anna Paquin the actress you dislike or how Sookie is portrayed?

Do you have any favorites on the show or is True Blood something you dislike? What does the above in red mean? I feel like an idiot but I'm very confused. Embarassed

I liked Sookie and Bill until halfway through season 1.

TB used to be must see TV for me but even though I still watch it, it is not appointment TV for me anymore. My favorite characters are Lafayette and Eric, Jessica also amuses me greatly. She grew on me but I didn't like Tara in the beginning. Her chip on the shoulder 'tude was very off putting. She and Sookie swapped places from my most hated to most liked as I started out really liking Sookie.

I have nothing against Anna, in fact her Rogue is one of my favorite X-Men in the movie franchise. It is the character Sookie that I have issues with.

I have to say too that I started hating on Sookie around the same time that Anna won the Emmy over January Jones. JJ plays a far more compelling character on Mad Men and I felt she deserved it over Anna. Her acting is and was far more superior compared to Anna's as Sookie.

Ooooh, I love the X-Men movies! I would love to own the whole Series on DVD.

I can only judge Anna's performance in True Blood as I don't watch Mad Men. I think Anna is a wonderful actress and I'm sure January Jones is as well. I've heard some really good things about Mad Men and would love to watch it but I want to catch it from the beginning.

I guess I'm easily pleased because I like all the characters in True Blood. My favorites are Lafayette, Eric, Sookie and Jessica is fun to watch. Wait, I did dislike one character and that was Maryann. I hope she never returns.

Thanks for responding to my post, Wendi! Very Happy

Frances,

I am big MadMen fan. I love that show, oh man, I have posted on here in the MadMen thread hoping someone else liked it too. But you are right you need to watch it from start. You can get rent first seasons on Netflix.
but when you watch it keep in mind, I am exact age of Don's daughter, that is my childhood, cept mine was southern version.

It will be awhile before I can watch it as money is tight at the moment but I can't wait. I know I'll love it, if you like it. Very Happy I do believe my TV/DVD to-do list is getting longer. LOL.

I will re-watch season 2 when it comes on demand which it probably will pretty soon. Then I will be ready for Season 3. So Bill was a bad guy in the book. Hmmmm it's odd because he is such a "goody goody".

I can't remember the sex in the dirt scene. I love the show but can't stand all the blood. I love the whole cast.

I don't mind the blood but I have always felt that they could do away with a sex scene or two in the episodes. I've always felt that the number of sex scenes per episode was a bit excessive but I get that it goes with the branding of the show and I still love it! Can't wait for the 3rd season! Smile
