| I have a friend who loves, loves, loves crescent roll recipes, probably because she hates to cook and those recipes are usually pretty easy. We often joke that we ought to pool our talents. She could clean and keep house for me (she loves cleaning!), and I could cook for her and her hubby.
I thought we could use this thread for crescent roll recipes. Do you have any? Unfortunately, I didn't think of it until I had already posted the cheesy crescent roll recipe on the open board, but oh well. Better late than never, right?
I'll start with a couple of recipes from my recipe box, but won't you add some, too?? I would love to see what you're doing with crescent rolls.Crescent Rollups Preheat oven as directed by directions on crescent roll package. Unfold 2 cans of crescent rolls. Place 1 teaspoon of filling at short end of triangle and roll up. Filling:3 oz. softened cream cheese 4 sausage patties (cooked, drained and chopped finely) 1 T. spicy mustard Bake as directed on the package. Ham Puffs1 8-oz pkg. crescent rolls Filling: 3 oz ham, chopped fine 1 small onion, chopped fine 1/2 c. Swiss cheese, shredded (for kids use Cheddar) 1 egg 1/8 t. pepper 1 t. Dijon mustard Preheat oven to 350. Combine filling ingredients in a medium bowl. Coat a mini muffin pan with cooking spray. Unroll crescent roll dough and press it into 1 large rectangle. Cut rectangle into 24 squares. Place each square into a muffin pan and press to form a cup. Using a tablespoon or small scoop, divide filling among cups. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned. I might have posted this next one, before, but it's worth a second posting, if I did. The kids and grandkids all love it, and it's so easy to do. You could even give it a Mexican flair by substituting taco meat and shredded cheddar for the barbecue sauce and cheese slices. We prefer the BBQ version, but you might prefer the other.Barbeque Beef Crescent Roll For those times when you might have a hungry family nipping round your heels and not much time to prepare dinner. This little gem will rescue you every time.1 lb. ground beef (or a bit more) 1 18-oz. bottle barbeque sauce 2 rolls Pillsbury Crescent Rolls cheese slices Unroll crescent rolls and spread them on a large cookie sheet, pressing the seams to seal. (You should end up with a large rectangle of crescent roll dough.) Brown ground beef in a frying pan. Drain fat. Stir in the barbeque sauce. Spoon the meat mixture down the center of the crescent roll (length-wise). Fold dough over the meat mixture. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven, for about 30 minutes, or until crescent roll begins to brown. Overlap cheese slices, point-to-point, down the center of the crescent roll. Return to oven just long enough for the cheese to melt. This makes about 8 servings. Now, it's your turn. What do you do with a can of crescent rolls? |

| I like to make this when I'm short on time and need something quick and easy. I don't really know what it's called, I've been making it for years. My kids just call it "that hot sub thing you make in the oven"..lol
2 (8 ounce) packages of crescent rolls 1/4 lb. shaved or sliced ham 1/4 lb. shaved or sliced turkey 1/4 lb. salami sliced 8 slices cheddar cheese 8 slices swiss cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 pan. Cover bottom of pan with 1 package of crescent rolls. Layer meats and cheese. Top with 1 package of crescent rolls. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes. Cover with foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
I mess around with this a lot. Sometimes I use pepperoni or shaved roast beef. I use different kinds of cheese also. Sometimes I make half of the pan one thing and the other half something else. I usually serve hot pepper rings, onion, pickle, lettuce and tomato on the side. My family likes to dip this in pizza sauce, ranch dressing, mustard or creamy horseradish sauce (really good with the roast beef and cheddar) it just depends on the combo you make. Hope you enjoy this! |

| I love this thread! How fun! Colleen...I make a version of that....it's called Stromboli....but the recipe calls for thawed out bread dough, and you roll it out and layer the meats and cheeses and then roll it up to cook...I usually make several at a time because it is pretty involved....but YOUR version with the crescent rolls seems so easy!! I am going to add it to my list right now!! Thanks for the great time saver! |

At our house they are called Pigs in a Blanket. I also use a couple of "Smokies" in stead of hotdogs. |

| Another one, from you-know-who . . .
Easy Cheesy Crescent Sandwich
This makes a good, late-night supper, when you don't want a big meal.
6 oz. (1-1/2 c.) shredded cheddar cheese 3 T. milk 1 t. dry mustard Dash cayenne pepper 1 can crescent dinner rolls 1/2 t. poppy seed
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Combine cheese, milk, mustard and cayenne pepper. Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles. Press 2 rectangles in bottom of ungreased 8-in square pan. Spread half of cheese mixture over dough. Place remaining 2 rectangles over cheese; gently stretch to cover. Spread with remaining cheese mixture, sprinkle with poppy seed. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into 6 squares; serve warm.
I happened to have 1/2 lb. of hamburger that I needed to use, so browned it with some chopped onion and put it in before the first cheese layer. Served with a fruit salad, and hubby loved it. |

| My sister makes a breakfast casserole out of them. She spreads all of the dough out in a rectangular glass pan. Cuts up sausage links so that they look like round little disks and spreads them along with shredded cheese on top of the dough. Right before she is going to bake it she'll pour scrambled up eggs with milk on top. Then, you bake it in the oven until the eggs are cooked and the crust is browned. They are yum! |

| I followed a link from one of the other threads here to the QVC forums earlier today, and something I saw there, caused me to google "Antipasto Squares." I read that the recipe gets raves.
Anyway, I found one recipe (this one) on the Pillsbury website, and since I have two cans of crescent rolls sitting in the fridge right now, I think I'll make these for the family this weekend . . . as a "nibble" before dinner. They "look" good, don't they? And, from what I read, leftovers taste pretty good, too.

Italian Antipasto Squares
There's a whole antipasto tray baked in the tender crust of these crescent squares, served as either an appetizer or main dish.
2 cans (8 oz.) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 2 cans (8 oz. ea.) Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations refrigerated flaky dough sheet 4 oz. thinly sliced salami 4 oz. thinly sliced Swiss cheese 4 oz. thinly sliced pepperoni 4 oz. thinly sliced American cheese 4 oz. thinly sliced capocollo (cured Italian ham) or cooked ham 4 oz. thinly sliced provolone cheese 2 eggs 1/2 t. garlic powder 1/2 t. pepper 1 jar (12 oz.) sliced roasted red bell peppers, drained 1 can (2 1/4 oz.) sliced ripe olives, drained 1 egg yolk, beaten
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter 13 x 9” pan or spray with cooking spray.
If using crescent rolls: Unroll 1 can of dough into 1 large rectangle; place in plan, Press in bottom and 3/4” up sides of pan to form crust, firmly pressing perforations to seal.
If using dough sheets: Unroll 1 can of dough; place in pan, Press in bottom and 3/4” up sides of pan to form crust.
Layer all meats and cheeses in order listed over dough. In small bowl, beat 2 eggs, the garlic powder, and pepper with wire whisk until well blended. Pour over meat and cheese layers. Layer roasted pepper and olives over top.
If using crescent rolls: Unroll second can of dough into 1 large rectangle; press into 13 x 9” rectangle, firmly pressing perforations to seal.
If using dough sheets: Unroll second can of dough; press into 13 x 9” rectangle.
Place over top of layered ingredients. Pinch edges to seal. Brush beaten egg yolk over dough. Cover with foil.
Bake 30 minutes. Remove foil; bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until deep golden brown. Cool 15 minutes before serving. Cut into 6 rows by 5 rows. Serve warm. |

| Cream Cheese Danish
(Comments from an old friend) This is a family favorite.....kids would do about anything for a batch of this, and believe me, I take full advantage of it!!
2 (8oz.) pkg. crescent rolls (name brand works best!) 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 c. sugar 1 t. almond extract 1 egg, separated cinnamon-sugar mixture slivered almonds, optional
Grease a 13x9" baking pan. Unroll 1 pkg. of rolls and spread in the prepared pan. Beat together the cream cheese, sugar, almond extract, and egg yolk. Spread over the rolls in the pan. Cover with the remaining pkg. of rolls, stretching a little to keep top layer intact. Beat the egg white and brush over top of the dough. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon-sugar mixture and almonds (if desired). Bake in 350 oven for 20 minutes or until browned. Cool for 30 minutes before cutting into squares. Serves 16
PS: Sometimes this seems to take 10-15 min longer to bake. Don't be alarmed; just watch for center not to be runny. Enjoy. |

| Chicken Dijon Turnovers
Filling:
2-3 chicken breasts, cooked 8 oz. cream cheese (room temp.) 2-3 t. milk dash of salt mustard to taste 1 c. of frozen peas
Crust:
1 pkg. of 8 crescent rolls (the kind in a tube that you roll out) 1/4 stick of butter, softened bread crumbs
Chop cooked chicken into bite size pieces and set aside. In small bowl mix cream cheese, milk, salt and mustard fold and cream until even paste. Add chicken and fold, then add peas (do not thaw peas).
Roll out crescent rolls in groups of two, stretching and flattening. Add filling on one side and turn other over top. Seal edges by pressing shut with fingers. Lather with warm butter and then roll in bread crumbs. Cook at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes or until golden brown.
This is good with variations: adding ham instead of chicken or adding spices to the filling. |

| Christmas Morning Rolls
Serves 8 (one per person), but I recommend doubling the recipe because one is never enough.
Rolls:
1 package of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls 8 large marshmallows 1/4 stick melted butter (butter, not margarine) 1/2 c. granulated sugar cinnamon
Icing:
2 c. powdered sugar enough water to make a drizzle icing
Open up the triangles of crescent roll dough. Put marshmallow in melted butter, roll in sugar and place in largest part of the triangle. Sprinkle cinnamon on top of marshmallow. Wrap dough tightly around the marshmallow and seal well. I recommend baking in cupcake liners in case they open up and the marshmallow oozes out--easier cleanup. Bake in muffin tins, or just as they are on a cookie sheet at 350 degree for about 10 minutes or until golden.
Drizzle icing over them and enjoy immediately!!! Believe it or not they are great cold, too, so make plenty for when the craving strikes for one the day after Christmas. |
