PostSubject: Bug Bite   September 16th 2014, 6:46 pm

I am so excited for the show (BB) tonight, but I have been worried about this bug bite that I got almost a week ago.

I have been putting hydrocoritsone on it, but that hasn't done anything. I have now switched to Neosporin.
It's still really red and raised, and the size of a quarter. Maybe a spider bite?

I have never had a bite last this long without it starting to go away. I'm worried that it's infected.

I guess I have to bite the bullet and go to the doctors.

Sorry, just had to let off a little worry.

does it itch.  Have you tried benadryl, either topical or pill?

Draw a circle around it with a black pen/marker tonight and if the redness spreads morning it is for sure infected and needs to be treated. Can be very dangerous if the red spreads.

take a Benadryl and draw the line. Is it hot to touch, any fevers, pain or pus?
doesn't hurt to just give the dr a call.

also I had a spider bite about 2 weeks ago. So funny, well not actually funny, but I swear you could actually see the fang marks. I think it was a big one that bit me. It lasted about a week and a half before the itching stopped.

No fever, not hot to the touch, and no pus.
I think I'll go with Benadryl and give it a few more days.

Thanks, ladies.

So, what happened?  I didn't see this yesterday. I would have told you about my tale of woe about a spider bite I got.

I put peroxide on my bites. Kills any infection.

I did end up going to the doctor today. It was really stinging and incredibly itchy. It was a little bigger today, too.
He told me to stop the Neosporin and go back to the Hydrocortisone. He said that it wasn't infected, but get back to him in a few days if it's not getting better.
He did see a hole in the middle where that bastard bit me. lol

chc64, I didn't think about peroxide. Thanks for the reminder about how peroxide is great for many things.

Nancy, I am curious about your spider bite. Please share.

Lori, he wasn't sure what it was.

He told me that he's had people come in with bites from caterpillars. Isn't that weird?

I went through my closet...and back in the back was a shirt I forgot I had. I thought, Oh, I'll wear that.
You can guess. There was a spider in it. Pretty sure a brown recluse. It bit me on the shoulder.

I was right before my year end dance concert and I had huge responsibilities so I muddled through.
It took about three weeks to heal. No permanent damage like you see in some stories, but it sure did hurt.

This thread gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Gail, are you feeling any better or worse?

Nancy, I had a co-worker years ago that was hospitalized for six weeks after a brown recluse bite on her baby finger. The first week was touch and go. I am VERY happy to read that you are alive and well. Gads.

Please take care, Gail! Shocked

This thread made me laugh, I guess because up it makes me nervous. Ha ha Bergen with the fang marks. Bug bites are no joke, do you guys remember when I got bit and they though it was a black recluse and then a month later I was sick and it turned out it must have been a tic because I contracted Lyme Disease?

Frances, I just remembered your phobia! Do you remember when someone used a spider as their avatar to scare you?

Nancy, I had a friend many years ago that was bitten by a brown recluse. His entire leg below the knee became swollen, and very infected. It was awful, and he had a touch and go couple of weeks.
I'm very glad that you didn't have to go through that.

Moody, I was worried that it might be a tick bite, too, but the doc didn't think so. I'm going to go with that.

Frannie, I am so sorry to give you the heebie-jeebies. I got them, too.
The bite area is better now. It's starting to get smaller and fade a little bit.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. Support is always wonderful.

Glad to know you're on the mend, Gail! Very Happy Spider bites are sure scary! We just moved to a new house and have been battling black widow spiders (outside, thankfully); I'm told when those clear out, brown recluses are next!

Just seeing this thread. Gail, sorry you got bit, but glad to hear you're on the mend.

Yes, Moody, I remember that night when you posted, Lymes was the first thing I thought of and although I didn't want to freak you out, I remember telling you to get to the Dr. stat.
