I'm interested to see if the house has a similar design to our version or if it has a nicer/modern look that the other international BB houses seem to have.

I hope they use microphones similar to the ones used in The Glass House ... the cool necklace ones that seemed so superior to the usual BB clip on ones with the wire and back pack.

ET Canada aired a brief clip showing the BB house under construction.

BB Canada House Construction

I don't know if you guys in the US are geo-blocked but, if so, the house is being constructed in a studio in Mississauga. The "outdoor" area will actually be indoors with lighting that takes it through a 24 hour light cycle. The host mentioned that eventually, there will be an outdoor area but the "backyard" is indoors.

Edited to add a link for those outside Canada.

I wonder if Will and Boogie will be involved in any meaningful way? I remember Will tweeting something way back when BB Canada was first announced that BB Canada would have to up their offer if they wanted him. That was just before Boogie came to the Toronto casting call so I just assumed it had something to do with Will coming with him to Toronto, but maybe it's more?
Can't wait for Feb. 27th!

(By the way, I'll grant them the "eh" but I've never heard one single Canadian pronounce "about" as "aboot". Lol ... and the whole set, including the backyard has been built inside a studio so I don't think the cold will be a factor unless they plan some outdoor comps.)

I hope BBCA doesn't have any old houseguests from other countries series. So looking forward to normal people's faces!

I have a friend from Barrie, ON who says aboot.

I guess we can expect a bunch of promos from these two leading up to the Big Brother launch on February 27th. I wonder if they will have any involvement once the show starts?

I realize that these two are just trying to be entertaining but this is the same meme that they've gone with for years ... that competition wins are overrated strategically. They seem to overlook the fact that if you and/or your allies don't win key competitions, your chances of winning the whole thing are greatly reduced.
If Mike hadn't won the POV and the three HOHs that he won at the times that he won them, he wouldn't have won allstars. (and "showmances" work both ways ... the man wants to keep his "showmance" around and the woman wants to keep her "showmance" around ... it's mutually beneficial.)
I think all chosen strategies can work but I doubt there will ever be another season like season two where someone like Will is dragged to the end and gets the win. I still insist that his season 2 win was more luck than skill. (Which is a big part of the game as well ... as one example, if Janelle hadn't had the bad luck to have Julie screw up the instructions during part one of the final HOH on allstars, things might have turned out differently.)

I think it's cute the way the have Mike and Will doing these ads. However, some of the stereotypes really annoy the crap out of me.

The only people I have ever heard say "aboot" are Americans! Most of these accents are common in areas like Maine, and North Dakota, but I don't here them here.

As I said previously, I have a friend in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. He was born and raised there. He says aboot. Personally, I think it's cute.

Trust me, I work in WV so I know about stereotypes. I would much rather have the stereotype of saying aboot, rather than the stereotypes we get portrayed as having. Buckwild doesn't help.

PostSubject: Re: Big Brother Canada   January 11th 2013, 12:51 pm

I really hope BB Canada is at least ALMOST as good as the US version. I was thinking about it and I think it should be pretty similar since it's the same format, same casting producers, house looked like it was about the same size (at least from what we saw of the construction). The only thing that worries me is the production value. Obviously, Slice isn't going to be able to afford to put as much money into it as CBS does (hence the $100,000 grand prize). So I'm kind of wondering about how this might affect the quality of the competitions, for example, as well as the overall show. I've also heard that they might not have live feeds which is a HUGE bummer because we all know how inaccurate the editing can be. There will be After Dark though, so I guess that's something...

I watch The Real Housewives of Vancouver (lol), which is also a Slice show. It's the only RH show I watch. However, I have seen comments from people who watch all of them, and the impression that I've got is that people seem to think it's on par with the other shows. I've actually even seen comments from Americans who watch RHOV online and wish that it aired on TV in the US because some think it's even better than the other ones. So maybe there is hope haha. Obviously they're very different shows, but I'm so used to seeing stupid Canadian knock offs like Canadian Idol and Canada's Next Top Model, which SUCKED haha. So I guess RHOV doing well on Slice is a good sign maybe?

Is there TAR in Canada? I had read somewhere that there will be, but I didn't post because I figured they already had it and it would be old news.

Hm, I still don't think there will be. The writer of that article is basing it off of something that the facebook page said months ago, but they haven't said ANYTHING about live feeds recently. If there was going to be live feeds, they probably would have mentioned it in the same press releases that mentioned After Dark.
