How is everybody progressing? Anybody else as late as me and just getting started?! lol When you have college kids with finals, it's like pulling teeth to get them to tell you what they might want ahead of time, because they are so wrapped up with end-of-semester projects and studying for finals. So when that's finally over, it gives me about a week and a day or two to order things online or start shopping in stores.

It may sound like it, but I'm not complaining - we are blessed with kids who look forward moreso to the time spent on food, family and fellowship (probably in that order, lol) than on what presents there might be for them, so it's a little stressful to time everything, but not so much that I can't enjoy the overall process.

This is the first year ever that I don't have a tree up yet, no decorations...nada! Shocked

I bought gifts for my Mother... that's it!

My daughter accepted a great new job so we've been helping her move and get situated in her new apartment and city, which is great for her. I'm happy for her but miss her terribly already. Sad

Needless to say, I need to log off my laptop and get busy! She'll be home next Thursday so I have lots to do.

Ah Kay! What makes me feel better is knowing you are here for Christmas with your girls. It's the commercial aspect that I have trouble with, not the love and good spirit.

Thank you!

I don't celebrate Christmas but it so nice to hear how others prepare, decorate and get in the holiday spirit. I may not celebrate the holiday but I love sharing the Christmas joy with those that do. Enjoy!

Thanks. We do celebrate Hanukkah.

I love the holiday season and have fond memories growing up and spending Christmas Eve with one of my friends. Her family did not decorate the tree until Christmas Eve so I got to help them do that. Then I helped eat the yummy dinner and make Christmas cookies, popcorn stings and more. On Passover that same friend would come to my house and share the seder with us. We did that for years and I feel like we each learned about each others respective religions and traditions. My kids also have an understanding of Christmas and other religions. I love that.

Not to mention that I love Christmas songs. I get so excited when the radio stations start playing round the clock Christmas music. At least for the first week or so, then it does start to get old.

What a positive way to learn about another religion, Alejules...sharing special times with them. And you passed that tolerance and understanding on to your children...EXCELLENT!!!

I just wanted to pass this along, if some of you readers/posters here are looking for a different kind of gift for your kids' teachers. One of my students and his family made a donation in my name to worldwide vision for school supplies to needy children. It is one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever received in 30 years of teaching!

This is me being positive and celebrating Christmas. From an dear friend (Beruthiel/Ruthie):

Summary of Life

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the
second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food..
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
Cool You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandma's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge... mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fibre, not the
toy.

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

SUCCESS:

At age 4 success is ... Not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is... Having friends.
At age 17 success is... Having a driver's license.
At age 35 success is... Having money.
At age 50 success is... Having money.
At age 70 success is... Having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is... Having friends.
At age 80 success is... Not piddling in your pants.

Pass this on to someone who could use a laugh.

Always remember to forget the troubles that pass your way,
BUT NEVER forget the blessings that come each day.

Have a wonderful day with many *smiles*

Take the time to live!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

It's nearly 1-30am on Christmas morning here- we're just back from church and I'm sweating like crazy... It's going to be a hot, humid day here, as usual at Christmas.

We have 12 coming here for lunch- thank heavens for the BBQ and airconditioning!

After an afternoon nana-nap, we'll be heading down the coast to stay at my aunt's beach house for a week. I'm going to do my very best to stay in my pj's as much as humanly possible the whole time!

I hope you all have a wonderful, blessed day X X X X

Here's a pic of my divine new nieces! I'm sure they were whispering secrets to each other, LOL!
Ruby Katherine (left), and Faith Lillian (right), are a month old today. My sister lives just a few mins from me, so I've been able to have cuddles every day.
They're the best Christmas present ever!

How adorable! It is cold and rainy here in Houston which is strange because we have had a drought for a year. Now it's 90% chance of rain today and tomorrow! But Lisa and Ben are used to that weather anyway! Baking, cleaning, so excited to see the girls and Ben. I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Eve and Christmas. I am blessed to have found so many new friends on AABB and I treasure you all!

Thank you Kay.
I'm pretty well finished ... I usually make a wild rice stuffed whole salmon for Christmas Eve dinner and I just finished the stuffing so I think I'll take a nap.
I made a mango, avocado, roasted pepper salad as a side ... I hope they like it. My family doesn't usually like me trying to vary the traditional menu. Lol

All of you have blessed my life with your humor, discussions, and opinions this year for which I thank you very much. I feel like I'm part of a wonderful community of intelligent and interesting people, much like a family. Kiss of Love

We may not always agree on everything but we do respect one another enough to honor one another's opinions, which is an unusual and wonderful thing. Love AABB
