PostSubject: Let's talk about the Golden Key!    July 10th 2011, 7:47 am

From what I understand, the Golden Key provides safety till week 10 final 10. The downside it the player can't compete in the competitions. So this week, the surviving nominee, either Porsha or Keith will also have a golden key.

I suspect others have lots of questions and/or knowledge regarding the impact of the Golden Key on the game. I would like to learn more about it and suspect some of you have really thought it through, and some are you are like "Golden Key, WTF?" lol!

I admit to having a lot of confusion regarding the Golden Key. Should I blame my blonde hair, or my personal life? scratch

Not until week 10, until final 10, so week 4?

There are only 4 golden keys and Dani has one of them. We are wondering how this will affect the weeks.

Originally it was the first four evictions and then it went to every man for himself. But now that it has been sped up we don't know what Allison has planned.

It should go like this:
July 14th, 21st and 28th those that are not evicted will receive a key and can't play or be nominated but can vote.

So if they hold to the original rules then beginning in August it is back to original BB game play.

July 7th - 1st Golden Key: Dani (since Dick left the game)
July 14th - 2nd Golden Key: either Keith or Porsche
July 21st - 3rd Golden Key: ? or ?
July 28th - 4th Golden Key: ? or ?

How many complete duos can survive?

Lets see, we started with 7 duos and 3 more will be split up, so we will have 3 duos and 4 singles to make 10 singles.

I think, based on convos in the House, that there might only be 3 golden keys since Dick's departure. Not only because the vets keep talking about Dani being out of the next 2 HoH comps, but also because this week has now in essence become an unexpected double eviction week and they will be down 10 with 3 evictions not 4.

Yes, once the forth golden key is handed out, there will be 3 duos and four singles left in the game to play individually. (Unless an additional twist is announced)
Julie said that duos play would end once they were down to ten players in the game.

Which duos do we hope will survive?

Which duos do we speculate will actually survive?

I want Jeff & Jordan, Cassi & Shelly, and Dom & Adam with Dani, Lawon, Keith, and Rachel.

I think what will happen is it will be Brendan & Rachel, Cassi & Shelly, Kalia & Lawon, Dani, Keith, Adam, and Jordan

No Brendon...I think Brendon and Jeff are the newbies very first targets.

I hope so! What a dweeb on the feeds. But can the newbies win anything? I can't wait for HOH comp to find out. Maybe Dom will win?

I think Dom will be one of the only new players actually trying to win HOH on Thursday. I kind of hope he does, just to shake things up game wise.

So how can it be a negative to be a Golden Key winner?

It''s a big advantage in my opinion you can sit back and adjust your game. I actually really don't like that there are so many being won.

Being a golden key winner is a huge advantage, IMO. Especially for Dani.

I don't think it's a disadvantage for the person who wins it. They get immunity for awhile. I do think it's a disadvantage for the winner's side, though. The vets need Dani especially in the comps and she can't really help them. I think as the game progresses we will see if indeed the golden key is an advantage for the winner, like most think it is.

It's a big advantage for the four that end up with them. (They don't "win" them as they have to be up for eviction and then not be the one evicted in order to get one.)
Once they get down to the final 10, (three duos and four singles), it's every woman for herself!
One possible disadvantage is that they may be out of competition mode by the time they get to compete again.

I don't quite see that ... once the four golden keys are handed out there are still 10 players in the game. (Four having been evicted - Dick plus three more.) Jury starts with the 6th person evicted, no?(Ninth from the end.)

I think there are regularly 7 jury members, so after 5 out, then they start going to Jury. 2 finalists + 7 jury = 9 left in house. 14-9=5 out.

So I have been thinking about why the golden key may be bad. Some may look at it as the key holders have had it easy for several weeks. By the time they play there will be no partners. Some HG's may test them since they have not played many comps.

Just a thought.

Well, once the game is down to ten players, nobody is going to get a free pass. They'll have to try and win comps to keep themselves safe. Some will be higher on the eviction radar than others by that point.

What makes everyone so sure that they still won't be playing as duos once they get to the final 10?

Those without partners would pick new partners and maybe those with partners could breakup and get new partners.

The rules have changed.

I wondered that too. Maybe it will be final 8 or later when they split.

What if the 4 people who have golden keys have to partner up with each other when there are only 10 houseguests left? Did Julie ever say when they will start playing this game without their partners?

So, Julie said that they cannot be nominated until only 10 remain. That does not mean an auto pass to the jury. One of the golden keys could be nominated an out pre-jury.

I think the Golden Key is a HUGE advantage and the earlier a player gets it, the greater the advantage. Key holder gets free pass to jury which is everyone's second goal after not being voted out first. They do not have to play under the stress the other players do (until keys are all gone) because they are not worried at all about being nominated. Not being stressed is worth a ton in BB. It gives the key holder a better opportunity to sit back, watch people, and formulate a better future game plan. They are not playing under the gun the way everyone else is. As soon as they are a key holder they are looked at as a single player which makes them more attractive to other players. They don't have to 'show' their game because they are not competing to stay in the game until Week 5.

I know it was not by design but IMO Dani has been given the biggest advantage of anyone ever playing BB. She got the longest 'free time' in the game and is untouchable until week 4 (or 5)....that is a LONG time in BB. She is a returning vet but since her Dad left she doesn't have a partner the newbies worry about her allegiance to or support from. Therefore they *think* she will be more open to play with them to take out the vets (and I think she will too). The vets are each others biggest threats. She weakens them by her not competing to help them. She is able to play it off to the vets she is spending a lot of time with the newbies in an effort to get information but all the while she is building a group to help her take out the vets. I don't fault her at all. She was given this advantage by BB and she is smart to use it to the best of her ability. I think she is setting herself up beautifully and we know when she does compete she will be a machine. I still think BB13 is her's to lose.

I don't see any disadvantages to the key holders.

Personally I don't like this golden key twist. But it is BB and expect the unexpected.

If I were to bet, I would say that if Jeff or Jordan leaves pre-jury, the producers will find a way to bring him or her back. J/J are the ratings boosters especially now that Dick is gone.

If Brendan goes, goodbye.
