It was a dream come true for Kim Kardashian when she walked into her Beverly Hills home May 18. Her boyfriend of six months, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, was waiting in her bedroom on bended knee with four words written in red rose petals: "WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

"I didn't expect this at all," Kardashian, 30, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview (out Friday) of the romantic, surprise proposal. "I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now."

Humphries popped the question with a custom-designed, 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond sparkler. "I just knew I wanted it to be big," says Humphries, 26, who, with the help of Kardashian's mom Kris Jenner, planned an intimate family celebration later that evening.

"Kris really didn't want a big celebration, but he had jokingly told my mom he'd be fine if there were mini-horses there," says Kardashian with a laugh. "Later that night at the party, my mom brought out two mini-horses, covered in glitter, for us! It was hysterical!"

Kim finally nailed down a baller. He's kind of goofy looking. Let's see if she makes it to the altar. I'm sure mama Kris will make it happen as well as have the wedding televised on E! by the end of summer.

I have always liked Kim, she seems so nice and sweet. I'm happy for her and I actually think that these two could be a perfect fit. He seems to be okay with the attention because he loves her - not because he wants some of the attention on himself.

That ring is ridiculous - they're estimating that it's worth 2 million dollars. What a waste of money. You can see it on her finger here:

Just like her sister Khloe it seems... both guys basketball players and engaged within a few short months, I guess we'll see how long it takes Kim to walk down the aisle. Good for her that she's happy.

Khloe met Omar and a few weeks later they were married. I actually like Khloe a lot. Of the three she seems to be the most down to earth and has the best sense of humor.

I remember Kris Humphries from his high school b-ball days in the Twin Cities. Apparently he was kind of an asshole.

I would feel embarrassed to wear that ring. Every time I'd look at it I'd think about all the people that could be fed with that money.

See I wouldn't be ashame to wear a ring that size IF my man/I could afford it.....They probably do give to charity of their choosing.....

IMO if she really loved him she would tell him to take the ring back and get a more reasonably priced ring that he can actually afford he's not that good of a basketball player he makes a little over $3 million a year and probably won't be in the league for long

The size of that ring does not bother me. I think of Liz Taylor and her jewels and her extravagant younger years, then I think of all the good she did and lives she touched later in life. Maybe Kim will take a page from that.

Then I think of the royal jewels of the Queen, I enjoy seeing them.

I just don't know, but other people having nice things even extravagant things if they can afford them just does not bother me. I don't think I would ever spend that on ring ( as if, lol) I would be happy with a CZ.

Planning a wedding is so stressful...then when the big day comes it goes by TOO fast!!!
I love our anniversaries...but I think this year's anniversary isn't going to be a day of fun celebration.

Sounds like a great combination. Have you started thinking locations? I love garden weddings. They are always lovely and the photos are great even 30 years down the road.

Ask me and eBowers about hats! The style of dresses can really put a date stamp on the photos. Hats were the thing 30 years ago and then 25 years ago we all started wearing BIG dresses. I swear I have a bridesmaid dress that has a skirt with enough satin to make a to the floor table cloth - in fact now that I have said that I need to go look, it was a beautiful emerald green (from my sister's wedding, she picked the dress and I picked the color, it was a September wedding - she got married exactly 10 years to the weekend after I did). Oh and we all use to wear dyed to match shoes. They were never comfortable and of course you never wore them again!

I think wedding clothes right now are so pretty.

I forgot about this. So I will remember to share some of my ideas I had for my wedding tomorrow.

I am thinking of maybe having the bridesmaids all wear different colors. Let me know your thoughts about this. Thanks
