About Expedition Impossible

Expedition Impossible, the next evolution of high adventure and human drama, is a new global competition series from Executive Producer Mark Burnett. The series will feature teams of ordinary people doing the extraordinary, as they compete in the biggest adventure of their lives.

In Expedition Impossible, teams of three will solve problems while racing across deserts, over mountains and through rivers. Each week a new stage of the expedition will be revealed. Will teams crumble under the pressure of having to think clearly in the wilds of the great outdoors, or will they work together to get through and complete their adventures? After ten stunning legs of competition, one team will cross the finish line first to claim victory.

"We think the ABC audience will respond to this incredibly fun show, which is equal parts high extreme competition, teamwork and strategy featuring unique landscapes and different cultures," said John Saade and Vicki Dummer, Senior Vice Presidents, Alternative Series, Specials and Late Night, ABC Entertainment Group. "We look forward to collaborating again with Mark Burnett and his team to create an epic series."

"I love high adventure television and I am so excited to be working with ABC in bringing an epic Indiana Jones style experience to the viewers," said executive producer Mark Burnett.

Mark Burnett and Lisa Hennessy serve as executive producers. Both the television show and format will be distributed internationally by Mark Burnett International.

ABC announces cast for 'Expedition Impossible' (Yep, it's another amazing race coming to you in June!)

Now that Mark Burnett is stealing some thunder away from American Idol with The Voice, is he now hoping to suck a little steam out of The Amazing Race?

You be the judge: Burnett is the man behind a new summer reality show for ABC dubbed Expedition Impossible, which features 13 teams of three players who will travel across deserts, mountains and rivers in the “exotic, fabled Kingdom of Morocco.” Fun? Each week a new stage of the expedition will be revealed to the competitors, who must find a way to work together to complete the trip. After 10 legs of competition, one team will cross the finish line. Winners each receive $50,000, a Ford Explorer (nice product placement) and the privilege of never having to be called members of the Fab 3, Mom’s Army, or Grandpa’s Warriors ever again.

You think we’re kidding? Check out the monikers given to the 13 teams, which start the expedition on Tuesday, June 21. (My money is on the fishermen. Not so much for the gypsies):

I'm going to watch. I think the end prize is kind of cheap compared to The Amazing Race, Survivor, and BB. 150,000 split three ways. 50 grand each. I guess I should wait and see exactly what it is they have to do.

It's kind of boring. I hope it gets better.

Even though TAR is cookie cutter, I now have a greater appreciation for TAR's production value after watching the first episode of EI.

It was okay, nothing great. The promotion made it seem like it would be very different from TAR but I thought it was very similar.
Maybe it will get more exciting once a few more teams are gone and they can show more of the challenges. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it gets better.

Lol me too..With my eyes closed!

I just couldn't get into it, it lacked excitement. It needed music or something...it sounded like a lot of dead air.

I'm going to try again next week. There is another show that starts next week that also looks like TAR but with people in relationships. I'm looking forward to watching it. I don't remember the name at the moment.

I kinda watched also. Not very exciting. To me, it seems like a cross between Survivor and TAR. The show next week is Into the Wild-or something like that! I know it has the word wild in it!

It was ok. TAR is so much better with a better host.

I watched the first half last night and when the host was doing the voice-over, I was like, "Where is his Kiwi accent?" Unacceptable.
Also, it was all one damn sand dune. Visual interest=0 after the initial "Ooh, sandtune" reaction. Mind you, I have only seen the first half so far, so pardon me if there was some super appealing part of Morocco that I missed.

ITA....good luck with the 2nd half.

I kept listing in my head all the other people they could have gotten as hosts and wondering why they didn't. I take it for granted that what Jeff Probst and Mr. Kiwi do on their respective shows and make it look easy. For that matter, Ms. Chen does a great job on BB.

I also wondered why the only people they get to sign up for these shows seems to be from Glouster, MA, Bronx, NY, Chicago or environs or LA. I think it's for the regular guy accents (out of shape) vs the beautiful wannebee actors (eye candy).

I also didn't get into the infomercial interruption with Mark Burnett driving the Ford Explorer around in the sand singing it's praises. Watch out everyone, I'm in a critical mood today. lol!

Those people are going to be cleaning sand out of their ears for the rest of their lives.

I liked it, tar bores me because of the airport and the taxis.

it was nice to see something that took pure determination and grit.
there was no actual luck involved just a lot of heart:)

The impossible part of this expedition is staying awake during it. The show had zero energy.
